A Cable Knit for all Occasions

Cable Knit Sweaters and the infinite possibilities for mankind!

If you really think about this, you must realise that from season to season, the Aran Cable knit sweater remains a wardrobe staple. Whether walking through Muckross Park on a crisp Autumn Morning, or out Christmas Caroling in the depths of Winter this iconic piece of Irish Heritage can be worn 12 months of the year, all year round in fact!  Even in the mild springtime and cool Summer evenings, the Cable Knit Sweater is integral in any home wardrobe.

The Aran Irish Sweater transcends formal wear and has the distinct privilege of being suitable for a variety of social situations.

Did you know this pattern has its roots in Celtic braiding techniques, the sweater is a relic of the old ways meeting contemporary styles. In Aran folklore the Cable Knit Stitch symbolises the fishermans ropes and is considered a symbol of luck for the superstitious people out there. I’m not one for buying into all the wonder stories but I do know what I like and what looks good on me!

An irish sweater really adds a classic borrowed from the boys element to a woman’s style. On the opposite sex, its effect is nonchalant and handsome, especially when worn over a button-down shirt in a complementary color. Faded jeans and blazers complete the perfect striking addition to a man’s presentation.

Cable Knit Sweaters are considered a luxury item and you really do need to launder and store with care to ensure this garment will retain its vibrancy for many generations to come.

There are certain clothing items that people must own. Everyone need shoes or socks for functionality of course but for a style you can wear all seasons and is unisex, that is something to set you a blog about!!

I'm The Cable Knit Guy

Hello,

Welcome to the world of the Cable Knit Guy - a true Irish Enthusiast and shameless promoter of Irish Crafts. I'm setting up this blog really to put the spotlight on Irish Aran Knitwear. Irish Knitting patterns have become synonymous with the Aran Island and Aran Clothing yet around the world they are called cable knit. Cable knit sweaters are Irish Sweater aka Aran Sweaters etc..... They are all one and the same.

The Irish Aran Industry has taken the world by storm, its a global business and now everyone from Ralph Lauren to Macy's, including all the top designers and retailers of the world have brought out their own Aran Knitwear.

I plan to select products I like and I hope you will too as well as another of cable knit thoughts or notions that take me. Each year there is an array of products hitting the online community and its like looking for a needle in a haystack to get the best finds. Hopefully by following this blog I will take the stress of looking and showcase what I like.

Also I will link and review various websites and articles on what they are saying about Irish Crafts Online.

Irish crafts need protection and promoting so if you can share this blog with all your friend and help us establish Irish Cable Knits as an online force.
